
Prague 6 - Dejvice / Hanspaulka
Luxurious modern city part Praha 6 Hanspaulka has been for many years considered as an exceptional residential locality. The history of this area reaches far back into the Middle Ages and hallmarks it as a prestigious address. Originally, in the 16th Century, vineyards were situated here, their names have been allocated to the future villa-houses - Toulka, Diskaciátka, Durinka, Slavíkovská. In the 18th Century the local holding and land was acquired by Hans Paul Hippmann, after whom the area was named and who built a Baroque-style manor house here. The modern time had an essential influence on this area of villas and left behind it a number of outstanding architectonic structures from the twenties and thirties of the 20th Century, which are connected with a number of well-known architects of that time. Many people connect Hanspaulka with prominent persons of the Czech artistic sphere. This was the address of poets František Halas and Jaroslav Seifert, the King of comics Vlasta Burian, film star Lída Baarová, painter Cyril Bouda, conductor Libor Pešek and singer Ivan Hlas.
